     We usually use north, south, east, west, not northern, southern,
     eastern and western, to refer to specific places or to direction of movement.
     We can use north, south, east and west as adjectives
     or adverbs and occasionally as nouns:

從注音符號教學看英文

教說話用的是「直接法」,教注音符號用的是「綜合法」。
「直接」及「綜合」教學法是依據語言學習心理而來的。

直接法

所謂「直接法」(The Direct Method),就是教師以學生要
學習的「標的語」(Target Language)來教導學習這種語言的方
法,如學生要學習英語,就用英語教英語,要學習日語,就用
日語教日語,要學習華語,就用華語教華語,語言的教學用「直
接法」,可使語音和語意之間,兩者因刺激與反應,產生直接聯
繫的作用,增加學生聽話能力,並使說話流利而和諧。

綜合法

所謂「綜合法」,就是先讓兒童學會完整的語句,再分析
語詞、單字、符號、最後讓兒童用認識的符號來練習拼音,從
而學會符號、語詞和語法,並藉以養成說正確語法的習慣。用
「綜合法」來教注音符號,可提高兒童的學習興趣,且學得快
又記得牢。

見樹後見林

說話教學與注音符號的教材宜事先統整。每一單元,合「說
話」和「注音符號」兩項活動,定一名稱,作為教學的中心。
課文的內容,是把說話教材中學過的語句,加以選擇,用注音
符號寫出來,成為課文。因此,教學之前,必須先教與單元相
同的說話教材,讓學生會聽,會說,也了解意思了,再指導其
辨認用注意符號所寫成的語句。
從兒童認知發展談「注音符號」

例如教「常頸鹿」這個詞,先讓學生看圖片,了解意思之後,
學生一聽到「常頸鹿」的聲音,就想到是在動物園裡,脖子長
長的一種動物。一想到脖子長長的一種動物,就會說:「常頸鹿」,
會說「常頸鹿」了,再指導他辨認「常頸鹿」這個語句。

單字輪廓【生理和心理的研究】

根據生理學和心理學的研究,以及各種實驗的結果,人在
閱讀的時候,眼球所注視的並不是一個個的字母,或是一個單
字裡的一筆一畫,而是停留於某一點,也就是說我們對於文字
的認識,只是注意其全部形狀,而不是作各個的分析,尤其兒
童的視覺適於籠統的看,看大的遠處的東西,而不善於辨別精
細近處的物品。兒童學習語言,也是先籠統的學片段的語句;
兒童認字,也是先認輪廓,而非先辨別一筆一畫。

對分析能力非常薄弱的兒童,倘若一開始就教以學習抽象
的符號,很難引起兒童的學習興趣,如果從注音符號寫成的完
整語句入手,等到語句熟悉以後,再教以分析辨認各個符號的
音和形,這樣既可以提高學習的興趣,又可以達到學習的目的。

語文教學的潮流是從完整的語句教起

從今日語文教學方法的變遷上來看,像英文教學,已經不
先從單獨的字音教起,更不先教無意義的字母,一開始就教完
整的語句,而這些語句是日常生活所必須,而且又是組織在整
篇文章裡的。可見語文教學的潮流,也已由分析法進步到綜合
法了。

如何達成注音符號的教學目標
(一)加強拼音練習

1.拼音的教材:

不要只拘泥於課本上提出來的音,只要是
日常生活用語,其聲符、韻符也都學過的,都可以作為
拼音練習的教材。如「麵包」一詞,雖然不是課本上的教
材,但「ㄇ」、「ㄅ」、「驗」、「ㄠ」都已經學過了,就可以拿
來練習拼音。另外,值得一提的是,直接拼讀練習的教
材,宜採用「類聚」的編序方法,以便在練習的過程中,
產生類化的作用及其效果。如課文中的拼音教材,用同
一個韻符,甚至用同一個聲調,換不同的聲符練習直接
拼讀,容易獲得類化的效果。

2.拼音的方法:

採用直接拼讀(俗稱的「暗拼法」),直接
拼讀的好處是:容易拼合;拼得快;幫助閱讀。有關直
接拼讀的方法已在教學過程中的「練習拼音」說明過,
不再贅述。此外,拼音的方式要多變化,有時用卡片,
有時寫在黑板上,有時先從韻母開始,有時先從聲符開
始。

(二)加強聽寫練習

拼音熟練之後,必須加強聽寫練習。

1.聽寫的教材:

分為兩類,一類是各單元已經學過的語句、
語詞、單字和符號等;一類是把各單元學過的教材,重
新加以改編。把學過的單字,組成日常熟習的語詞或句
子,如「麵包」「牛奶」「我喜歡吃麵包」「我天天喝牛奶」。

 2.聽寫的方法:
聽寫練習,就是由教師口頭報出一個音讓
兒童聽寫,初學時最好在訓練拼音之後,馬上實施聽寫
 訓練,成效更大。這裡的聽寫只是以練習聽音和拼寫為
目的,所以不必非要有意義的語詞作聽寫材料。如教師
揭示「ㄚ」兒童發「ㄚ」音,教師揭示「ㄨ」兒童發「ㄨ」
音,把「ㄨ」放在「ㄚ」上,兒童自拼「蛙」之後,立刻讓
他們寫下「蛙」音。這樣容易使兒童領悟聲韻拼讀與拼合
的實質關係。這種訓練實施一段時間以後,即宜作直接
聽寫,養成聽寫能力。
「拼音」和「聽寫」能力的訓練,是學習注音符號
成功與否最關鍵的因素。加強這兩種能力,才能達成注
音符號的教學目標。

六、如何運用注音符號教具發揮「寓教於樂」的效果

練習認念注音符號,應用「閃示牌」最有效。閃示是利用
「視覺暫留」的作用,在很短的時間內,反映所看到的事物,
說出記憶所看到的事物。近代大教育家德可樂利主張學習文
字,應當訓練學生使其注意文字的整體視覺形象。閃示牌就是
訓練這種能力的一種教具。

教學注音符號使用的教具可以多樣化,但閃示牌和符號卡
是教學注音符號必備的教具。這裡介紹的閃示牌是用來書寫「語
句」「語詞」和「單字」的長、中、短牌卡片,符號卡則是用來
書寫單個符號的卡片。

(二)閃示牌和符號卡的使用

認字需要反覆練習,練習最忌機械的重複,利用閃示牌或
符號卡,經過反覆練習以後,兒童對個別的字形或符號形狀的
認識能力,大為增強,而且練習的次數可以加多,練習的方式
可以有多種變化。

從綜合到分析的教學過程中,兒童就像在遊戲的活動中學
習,如讓兒童去尋找寫句子的長牌;拿中牌(語詞)從句子中
對出相同的語詞;拿短牌(單字)從語詞中對出相同單字;拿
符號卡對出單字中相同的符號,每一項「比對」的活動,不論
「近對」「遠對」或「閃示」等方式,無不存在著遊戲競爭的氣
氛。採用遊戲的方式進行學習,也是綜合教學法的特色。

根據兒童的身心發展,如果能透過視聽媒體和具體操作的
過程,兒童的學習,容易得到統整的概念,可以收事半功倍的
效果。因此,善用注音符號教具,可發揮「寓教於樂」的效果。

七、怎樣實施注音符號的教學評量

一個成功的教學應包括四項活動:一為確定教學目標;二
為評估學生起點行為;三為設計教學活動;四為實施教學評量。
本文一開始即說明了注音符號教學目標為何,再者,視教
學的對象採用什麼樣的教學法,然後,依教學法來設計教學活
動,所設計的教學活動,是否能達到預期的效果,最後,就得
要實施教學評量。下面就從教學評量的目的、方式來說明。

一)評量的目的

1.提高注音符號教學效果,對未達標準的學生進行補救教
學。
2.分析學生聽寫、拼讀、應用、閱讀等各項能力,作為教
學改進之參考。
